No Way...No How...

I don't know why everyone is head over heels about the new colored denim on the racks. I HATE it!!!! It is cheezy and reminds me of everything that was wrong with junior high. Back in the olden days I had jeans in every color (red, green, purple, you geI t the idea). They were ugly then, and they are ugly now! I just really do not like colored denim. I am also not a fan of the skinny jean, because anyone who knows me would know that I would look hideous in them. Another horrible look is the high-waisted jean. Seriously, no one looks good in pants that come up to the bra line!

I just would not be able to sleep tonight if I didn't get that out in the open, and I feel much better. It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders! Phew. Don't you feel better, too?

Atta Boy!

I usually don't write about home goods. I leave that stuff up to my cousins, Stacey and Lori, who have a wealth of experience when it comes to getting cool stuff for your home. But since neither of them has a blog, it's up to me to inform my loyal readers about a great store in New York called Global Table. I haven't actually been to the store, but the small sampling of goods they sell online is great. Definitely check out www.globaltable.com.

On another note, our family celebrated a great milestone this weekend when my cousin Oliver, actually my second cousin for those of you paying attention, celebrated his Bar Mitzvah. He was fabulous! He was confidant on the bima and read his torah portion like a champ. I am so proud of him! My very large extended family was in town for the big event and it was lots of fun hanging out with all of my cousins and their children. Even better was watching my kids play with their out-of-town cousins.

Another exciting moment for our family was when my other cousin (or second cousin), Emma, graduated from pre-school. She was very proud on the stage. She sang all of her songs and did her little dance with perfection. Next year she is off to kindergarten, where I am sure she will run the show. You go girl!!!

On the Runway

Thanks to my friend, Jamie, for discovering the new Runway Boutique here in Omaha. It's a cute little shop full of fun, trendy and very inexpensive goodies. It's the perfect place to find cute going out tops and dresses, without having to empty out your piggy bank! For those of you locals, Runway Boutique is located on 132nd street just south of center in the shopping center in front of Dave and Busters (conveniently located across from Runza).

On another note, my cousin Oliver is celebrating his Bar Mitzvah on Saturday. My entire family, which is spread from coast to coast will be in the big O to celebrate this milestone. I can't wait to see everyone and for all of the new babies to meet each other. I am most excited because my brother, Mark, who has been traveling out of the country for the past few months is coming and will be in town for a few weeks.

The Perfect White Shirt (not for you)

I usually don't write about men's clothing because it's, well, boring. But, I saw this shirt and decided that I had to write about it. By designer Ike Behar, this shirt is casual but elegant. I thought it would look fabulous on my husband. So, I tracked it down for him. It's very cool, don't you think?!

Jeans Addiction

As you all know, I am in love with jeans. They really are my favorite item of clothing. I had about 28 minutes in between meetings this evening and took advantage of all that free time to try on jeans at Von Mauer. I think I tried on about 15 pairs of jeans. They were all great! How often does that happen?! My favorites were the Joe's Jeans Provacateur, which has a shorter inseam and is made for us petite types - and don't even need to be tailored!

I was looking for a pair of trouser jeans, so I only tried on jeans that had a dark wash and a wider leg. I was quite happy with the AG Jeans - they were my second choice. I also liked the Seven for All Mankind "dojo" jean as well as the True Religion "joey" jean. None of these are actually a trouser jean. I did, however, find a true trouser jean at anthropologie.com. This is a dark wash, wide leg jean. I can't wait for them to arrive so that I can see if they are keepers or not! Here is a picture - they're really cute!

The Super Suit

Phew! I FINALLY found something to wear to Oliver's bar mitzvah! I am not sure if I will wear this Friday night or Saturday morning, but I found a very cute lightweight black pants suit at AT Loft. It's a nice cotton-sateen material that is appropriate for May. The pants are basic black trousers that I will wear a ton, and the jacket is super cute! It's got 3/4 length sleeves and a darling pleat in the back. It would look cute with jeans and is something I will wear again and again. I have a few things I can put underneath the jacket, or I might find something else.

I also found a very cute black dress that would be cute with a cardigan or wrap, so maybe I will go back and try that on again. If I don't come across anything else, I will wear the suit on Saturday morning. Otherwise, it might make an appearance at Friday night services. I also thought my white linen pants with a dressy top would be cute for Friday night. Only time will tell! In any event, I am much less stressed out now that I have something to wear.

Benjamin also got a cute outfit to wear for Oliver's big day - navy shorts and a cute button-down shirt. I think he would look smashing in a burlap sack, but this outfit is pretty cute. Here's a photo of Benjamin's new shirt. You can't tell here, but the stripes are navy blue and pink.
